چکیده

Although lysolecithin has been frequently prepared and has been the subject of much research, other lysophosphatides have not been studied in detail. Our interest in nervous tissue led us to use human brain as the starting material from which phosphatidylserine-rich fractions were prepared by the method of Folch (1942). Long & Penny (1957) demonstrated that the phosphatidylserine-containing fraction of ox brain was slowly attacked by the venom of the cottonmouth moccasin in an ethereal solution in the presence of Ca2+ ions. In the present work, however, phosphatidylserine was readily converted into lysophosphatidylserine by cottonmouth-moccasin venom in the 2,4,6-collidine-ether system described by Magee & Thompson (1960).

Preparation and Mechanical Properties of Compositionally Graded Polyethylene/Clay Nanocomposites

This paper presents the preparation and mechanical properties of compatibilized compositionally graded Polyethylene/ low density polyethylene (LDPE)/ modified montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites prepared by solution and melt mixing techniques. Use of polyethylene glycol as compatibilizer improves compatibility of modified montmorillonite and low density polyethylene.  Comparisons between two t...

JB Commentary GPR 34 as a lysophosphatidylserine receptor

GPR34, a P2Y receptor family member, was identified as a candidate lysophosphatidylserine (LysoPS) receptor in 2006. However, it was controversial whether LysoPS is a real ligand for GPR34. Kitamura et al. (GPR34 is a receptor for lysophosphatidylserine with a fatty acid at the sn-2 position. J. Biochem. 2012;151:511 518), using several methods for detecting activation of G protein-coupled rece...

Stereoselective effects of lysophosphatidylserine in rodents.

1. The pharmacological action of the L- and D-enantiomers of lysophosphatidylserine has been studied in vivo by following the increase in blood and brain glucose content caused by this phospholipid in mice. Preliminary experiments have confirmed that these effects are the consequence of lysophosphatidylserine-induced mast cell activation since they are not observed in mast cell-deficient mice b...

Preparation and Properties of Thermally Stable Polyureas Containing Ether and Ketone Units

The main objective of this search was to prepare novel soluble polyureas with improved thermal stability. Accordingly, a new types of polyureas was prepared through the polycondensation reaction of a prepared diamine containing ether, keto, and naphthyl groups with 4,4’-diphenylmethan diisocyanate (MDI), toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI), and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) in N-methyl-2-pyrrol...
